Based in Irvine, California, DiversityComm, Inc. is the proud publisher of the following five national diversity-focused magazines that include an emphasis on STEM opportunities: Black EOE Journal, HISPANIC Network Magazine, Professional WOMAN’S Magazine, U.S. Veterans Magazine and Diversity in STEAM Magazine. This exciting publisher returns to the USA Science & Engineering Festival as a media partner, assisting the event in its mission to inform and engage wide and diverse populations in the rewarding frontiers of STEM.

Often considered the epicenter of information on the status of diversity and inclusion in corporate America — including a special focus on fields in STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts/design, and mathematics), DiversityComm publications provide important, up-to-date news on a wide range of diversity issues. This includes schools and scholarships as well as covering virtually every industry, business and profession, including job, business and educational opportunities.

In DiversityComm publications you’ll read enticing articles on movers and shakers, special spotlights, highlights and fascinating stories that will leave you thinking, “Say whaaat?” Each issue is also filled with the latest statistics on workforce and global diversity, STEAM news, features on inspiring role models and mentors in diversity who are making a difference.

As a Festival media partner, DiversityComm will report on the 2016 Festival and Expo and share with its readers the different activities and opportunities available through these events. The company will also call attention to the growing impact of STEAM —and the many reasons why more women, minorities and other underrepresented groups should now take advantage of these expanding and rewarding fields.

“We are honored to be a media partner of the USA Science & Engineering Festival. This amazing organization’s mission is to re-invigorate the interest of our nation’s youth in STEAM by producing and presenting the most compelling, exciting, educational and entertaining science festival in the United States. We are looking forward to this year’s event and encourage others to bring the whole family and be inspired to spark the imagination of the next generation,” says DiversityComm, Inc. President and Publisher Mona Lisa Faris.

While STEM fields have long been an editorial focus of DiversityComm, Inc.’s publications, Diversity in STEAM Magazine was created to answer the call to spark students and professionals interest in STEAM specifically. The magazine targets K–12 students, college graduates and professionals. This new publication will play a pivotal role at the festival in getting this message across.

“STEAM-related jobs are growing at nearly twice the pace of all other fields combined: In 2016, more than 1.4 million jobs will become available,” says Faris. “In the 21st century, we need diverse, creative, global thinkers, and the arts and design help inspire this creativity as a key to innovation. STEAM professionals are essential to U.S. science and technological leadership and innovation and thus, are vital to U.S. economic strength, national defense and competitiveness.”

Faris adds that STEAM jobs make up over one out of every 10 jobs in the United States. “That makes the lack of STEM representation among women, minorities and underrepresented youths even more pressing,” she says. “The future is STEAM, and the time for underrepresented communities to seize this opportunity is now! STEAM-related job opportunities will grow nearly 17 percent over the next decade.”

To help get its message across, Diversity in STEAM Magazine is highlighting some of biggest personalities and role models in STEAM. The June 2015 cover story featured astrophysicist, television personality and STEAM educator Neil deGrasse Tyson. Inside, articles included will.i.am and his i.am STEAM organization, adventurer Sam Cossman’s descent into a volcano, and the indefatigable physicist Stephen Hawking. This issue is available on newsstands across the country and through DiversityComm’s app: DiversityComm.

Through her company’s participation as a sponsor for Festival 2016, Faris says she would like visitors to get to know DiversityComm, Inc., as a valuable resource for employment, education and business opportunities.

“We would also like people to be aware that we are very committed to diversifying the STEAM community and bringing awareness to women, minorities and underrepresented youth about the bright future that is available to them in STEAM,” she adds.
