It’s the hottest ticket in STEM excitement to hit Southern California this year! Join us March 23 as the LA Clippers co-host the Clippers SciFest SoCal with the USA Science & Engineering Festival, featuring a bevy of unforgettable STEM exhibits, hands-on activities and demos by some of the biggest tech giants and outreach organizations in the region – all to inspire the next generation of STEM professionals on the West Coast!

The partnership between The LA Clippers and the USASEF in SciFest was a natural fit and the next logical step in efforts to uncover new and exciting ways to expand into the STEM sphere and inspire students all across Southern California, says the Clippers organization. No strangers to fostering STEM innovation, technology pioneer and Clippers Chairman Steve Ballmer with Gillian Zucker, Clippers President of Business Operations, have been actively leading the organization’s efforts in advancing sports technology and leadership in the STEM space. From the team’s tech-led game introductions to the revolutionary new Clippers CourtVision digital game-watching experience, the organization is at the forefront of innovation.

In addition, the LA Clippers Foundation, among other programs and initiatives, gives Los Angeles students access to technology by renovating and expanding school learning and computer centers and runs programming in the STEM space, with learn-to-code events and the LA Clippers STEAM Challenge Fair as recent examples.

Here are key attractions to expect at the Clippers SciFest SoCal:

–Hands-on interaction with prominent industry leaders such as Raytheon, Laserfiche, NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Los Angeles City College STEM Academy, USC Women in Science & Engineering, General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc.,  The Boeing Company and more to inspire kids and talk about all of the incredible possibilities that a career in STEM has to offer.

–Demos of Clippers CourtVision and the Clippers Fan Van, which features an interactive video game that uses gesture recognition technology to map players dribbling a basketball while they avoid obstacles and retrieve coins along the way.

— Student exhibitions, and other large-scale displays of STEM in action.

In advance of the event, students will also want to check out the Clippers Mentorship Assist Zone outreach program that empowers young men and women across Southern California through initiatives (such as mentorship recruitment, student incentives, speakers, cultural experiences and group outings) that teach and expose them to opportunities that will help them grow into successful adults. https://www.nba.com/clippers/community/mentorship
