Matt Trexler is a seasoned professional with over 15 years of experience in material science and technology innovation. Currently serving as the Director of Material Science Innovation – Research at Under Armour Inc., Matt leads groundbreaking research and development initiatives to advance the company’s technological capabilities. Previously, Matt held the role of Director of Technology Validation at Under Armour, where he developed organization-wide protocols and managed multi-million dollar government research programs. His expertise in smart textiles, integrated biomonitoring, and thermoregulation garments has been instrumental in driving innovation. Before joining Under Armour, Matt worked as a Technical Researcher, assessing new technologies and developing ROI models. His career began at the US Army Research Lab as a Materials Engineer, where he managed research programs, developed novel manufacturing techniques, and briefed high-level DoD members on emerging technologies. Matt holds a PhD in Materials Science and Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology (2006) and a BS in Materials Science and Engineering from The Johns Hopkins University (2000). He has a deep passion for material science and continues to push the boundaries of innovation in his field.
