Biography

Dr. Mika Sovak, Vice President and Franchise Head, Oncology R&D, AstraZeneca

Mika is a medical oncologist at the pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca, where she leads a team of drug developers. Her goal is to discover and develop new medicines for patients with cancer, and one day to eliminate cancer altogether – a very bold ambition. Throughout her career, Mika has focused on building strong, collaborative, and diverse teams where each team member feels valued and can bring their best self to the problem of solving cancer.

She believes that we will only achieve our bold ambition if we bring diversity of thought to the decision-making that aims to ultimately improve patient’s lives. Mika leads the Oncology Global Inclusion and Diversity Council at AstraZeneca and looks forward to being part of X-STEM!
