Microgravity Chemist & Materials Scientist
Astral Materials, Inc.
Dr. Jessica Frick is the CEO and Co-Founder of Astral Materials which uses the unique microgravity environment of space to synthesize materials of a quality and consistency that cannot be made on Earth. Astral Materials is built off Dr. Frick’s work as a postdoctoral researcher in Prof. Debbie Senesky’s XLab at Stanford University where she led several successful materials science missions sent to the International Space Station (ISS). As a proud Michigander, Dr. Frick earned her B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Michigan before completing her Ph.D. in Chemistry & Materials Science at Princeton University. During her time at Princeton, Dr. Frick was awarded an NSF Graduate Research Fellowship which helped build her foundational knowledge on semiconductor crystal growth. Dr. Frick is passionate about using microgravity as a manufacturing tool to define humanity’s next Material Age. However, when not working on changing the trajectory of humanity through microgravity materials science, Dr. Frick is spending time with her pet parrot, Gnocchi, and maltipoo, Orzo.
