Dr. Antonia Zaferiou is a mechanical engineer whose research uses mechanical principles to study how people move in sports as well as daily activities. As the Director of Motion Analysis for the Division of Sports Medicine at Rush University’s Department of Orthopedic Surgery, her work aims to develop technologies and clinical interventions that improve movement mechanics and reduce the risk of injury. Dr. Zaferiou, who is also a dancer, studies the principles of physics, biomechanics, and biology to better understand how we move our bodies as well as engage students in the classroom.
