Making Mathematics Come Alive With Dr. Jack Love of George Mason University!

NOTE – This Nifty Fifty speaker will offer multiple (3-5), hour long, classroom-size activities (30 students per activity) rather than a large group talk.  Contact [email protected] for more details.

Jack is Director of Outreach for Mason Experimental Geometry Lab (MEGL) at George Mason University, where he is also Assistant Professor of mathematics. As MEGL Outreach Director he visits schools, libraries, and community centers, engaging young students in interactive mathematical experiences. MEGL Outreach is based on the idea that mathematics can be playful and inviting, and they create activities that show the world of mathematics through that lens.
Jack spent his early career working in the skateboard industry and only later began his foray into mathematics. He completed is BA in math at UC Berkeley and his MA at San Francisco State University. While at SFSU, as part of a National Science Foundation fellowship he worked with local K-12 students and also co-founded a mathematics summer camp for under-served students. He completed his PhD at George Mason University. He still skates any chance he gets.
