The X-STEM Fellowship program was developed in cooperation with the National Imperative for Industrial Skills (NIIS). It addresses the critical workforce shortage in STEM industries by engaging 7th-12th grade students and sparking interest in careers like engineering, material science, advanced manufacturing, metrology, and more.
Applicant Qualifications:
- Must be currently employed as an educator working in the classroom with students in grades 7th-12th
- Have a demonstrated track record of excellence in education
- Provide a letter of recommendation from school admin
- Available to connect via Zoom by May 12, 2025
Program Requirements:
- Commit to involve 30+ students per semester
- Attend a kick-off meeting
- Each semester, execute (4) Mississippi College and Career-Readiness aligned lesson plans, (8) for block** schedules, from our Fellowship lesson plan menu
- Collect student survey data (FERPA compliant)
*Block is defined as a class that meets approx. 90 minutes each session and covers a full year’s curriculum in a single semester.

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. Once all spots are filled, we will begin a waitlist. The final deadline to apply has been extended to May 9, 2025, but we encourage early submissions as spaces may fill before then. A PDF of the questions can be reviewed before filling out the form. Decisions will be communicated by May 15th, 2025.
