Due to the risk of exposure and transmission of the coronavirus (COVID-19), all USA Science & Engineering Festival events have been postponed.  We will be actively pursuing new dates.

Registration for X-STEM DC 2020 has closed.  Advance registration is required to attend.

A NOTE REGARDING EXHIBITS – X-STEM is a CONFERENCE-STYLE event.  The Festival Expo exhibits will NOT be open during X-STEM DC 2020.  Exhibits will be open during Sneak Peek Friday on April 24, 2020 and during the Expo Weekend on April 25-26, 2020.  If you wish to attend other Festival events, such as Sneak Peek Friday or the Expo Weekend, you must sign-up to attend those separately.

Welcome Address and Opening Remarks - 9:30am

Multiple speakers to kick off X-STEM!

Session One - 10:00am to 11:05am

Kim Swennen – Achieving success as an actress in such well-known Hollywood productions as Grey’s Anatomy and Criminal Minds, this hard-driving professional then set her passion on pursuing the field of computer science where she is now a software engineer and STEM advocate at Google.

Session Two - 11:20am to 12:25pm

Dr. Mitu Khandaker – Inspired as a teen by the X-Files, this rising game developer and NYU professor is helping to usher in a powerful new genre of storytelling through AI-inspired mobile video games focused on diverse audiences!

Latoya Peterson – Her expertise as a noted media junkie, technophile and entrepreneur is paying big dividends as this co-founder and her colleagues at Glow Up Games use AI and other emerging tech to craft new frontiers in storytelling.

And

Jim Massey – As Global Vice-President of Sustainability Strategy and Engagement at the prominent biopharmaceutical company AstraZeneca, he is on the cutting edge of making healthcare more accessible and sustainable for all.

Session Three - 1:25pm to 2:30pm

Brendan Jones – Learn from this Chief Operating Officer at Electrify America how his company is helping to revolutionize the use and marketability of electric vehicles by introducing a coast-to-coast network of charging stations that transform the capability of EVs from mere commuter driving to long-range highway road trips!

And

Dr. Katharine Hayhoe – Katharine Hayhoe is an atmospheric scientist whose research focuses on understanding what climate change means for people and the places where we live. She is a professor at Texas Tech University, she hosts the PBS digital series Global Weirding, and she has been named one of TIME’s 100 Most Influential People and Fortune’s 50 World’s Greatest Leaders.
