As Commander of the 333rd Recruiting Squadron at Patrick AFB in Florida, he is responsible for eight flights and approximately 105 military and civilian personnel throughout central and southern Florida, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands, covering an area of 36,000 square miles.
Join us and build a small electromagnet that uses different core materials to produce different magnetic strengths. Learn about magnetic materials – what works, and what doesn’t in making an electromagnet. Find out where in your universe magnetic fields hang out. And see a unique demonstration using magnetics fields to launch normally non-magnetic items.
Join the General Dynamics NASSCO San Diego based Naval Architects and Engineers to learn about the art of ship design and shipbuilding. Students will work as a group of engineers/planners/builders to learn about fundamentals of engineering used in ship design and experience the various steps involved in modern ship design and construction by designing and building small cargo carrying vessels and measuring their performance. The groups will get the chance to compete against each other to build the most efficient (and good looking!) cargo carrying vessels.
Learn how science and technology work to protect the U.S. Air Force in their dangerous job to keep our country safe. Check out a live demo of robots, bomb suits, and more!

“The X-STEM Conference gave my students a chance to experience different techniques in Science and Engineering that they might not normally have had the chance to do. It was a great experience for my high school freshmen. They walked away with so many new ideas!”

“I really enjoyed learning more about STEM. I never actually knew about what it was and what people in that field do, getting insight really helped me understand… it was an unforgettable experience. I definitely plan on going again if I have the opportunity to.”
Student from King Chavez Community High School, 2022 X-STEM San Diego Attendee
“I took my 15 year old daughter to this conference. She loves math but doesn’t know what career she wants to do with it. She loved all of the presenters and the practical things that they shared. She got to talk to people that were interested in math and they gave her ideas of how to pursue math in the future. Also, the content connected well with the topics that she has been learning about in high school.”
