Yes, MedImmune, as a Nobelium-level sponsor, will once more host the Festival’s amazing all-day X-STEM Symposium featuring a compendium of the nation’s most renowned visionaries and celebrities in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) to explore the passion and excitement of innovation!

Be there Tuesday, April 28, 2015 from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Washington, D.C. Convention Center when X-STEM’s unforgettable group of presenters — ranging from heroes and inventors in space exploration, oceanography and robotics to bioscience and eco-friendly vehicle innovation — brings young students and others up close and personal with the wonders of STEM.

“MedImmune is returning as a sponsor of the X-STEM Symposium because we feel it is such a great opportunity to engage students and the public in exciting, hands-on ways through the knowledge and experience of some of the top innovators in the STEM disciplines,” says Liz Huntley, Director of Corporate Citizenship & Community Relations at MedImmune.

“In the process,” she adds, “students begin to see such innovators as the STEM heroes, role models and celebrities that they truly are, and the impact these visionaries are having on solving some of the world’s most daunting technological problems.”

In addition to co-sponsoring the X-STEM Symposium with Northrop Grumman Foundation last year, MedImmune was also represented at the event by Laura Richman, Vice President of Research at MedImmune, who delivered an inspiring presentation on Personalized Medicine. Moreover, 100-plus scientists and employees from the company also interacted with students and other visitors at the symposium and the Festival Expo.

“We hope to build upon our participation in the 2014 event and are excited for the next X-STEM event and the Expo,” says Liz.

“Events like the Festival and X-STEM are such important endeavors in inspiring the next generation of innovators, including those in frontiers represented by MedImmune,” she adds. ¨We need the best and the brightest in order to remain on the cutting edge of developing the new medicines of tomorrow. I strongly encourage our peers in the biopharmaceutical industry to join us and participate in the Festival.”
